FIVE NEW CANDIDATES FOR DONEGAL CHAPTER
Another memorable evening was recorded in the history of Convoy Thiepval
Memorial R.A.P.C. No. 1005 Co. Donegal on Monday 18 January as the the
Chapter initiated 5 new members. The rural village hall was once again
packed to capicity were the degree has always been exemplified in the
traditional manner. Almost all the Lodges within No. 3 District East Donegal
were represented as were Brethern from Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The usual proceedings and lectures were expertly carried out by Bros.
G.Hunter and A.Freen of Raphoe Crimson Defenders L.O.L. 1921. The following
candidates were initiated; Bros.; Eaton, Gordon, Wasson, Smyth and Ramsey.
Bro. Smyths Great Grandfather, the late Bro. W.R. Buchanan, was initiated
in the Chapter in 1925 while Bro. Wassons Grandfather, Bro. Matthew Lyttle,
has served over 50 years.
The Chapter in Convoy has gone from strength to strength in recent years
and in 2009 celebrated its 90th Anniversary, the present W.M. is Bro.
Bert McGonigle assisted by his D.M. Bro. Alan Laird. Supper was provided
by the members of Convoy chapter and an excellent evening was had by all.
